Swimming in the sea looking back on the cliffs of Montreal with friends who surprisingly were at the same vacation spot as I was. We sunbathed, went for long swims, ate crackers and strawberries, drank smoothies and listened to Lana del Rey all off of my iPod without speakers and we giggled a lot. We felt like Beyoncé, except on a very small boat and with less good snacks. I remember marveling at the beauty of my surroundings and at the incredibly beautiful synchronicity of the world. I’d been up almost the whole night before, staring out at the blurry neon lights of the city from my friend’s apartment. I was a bundle of emotions and kind of jumpy but we listened and had a sing-along and stopped to eat onion rings outside of a highway rest stop in the late afternoon light, and it was perfect. This memory is significant in my life because it was really something unexpected. I got the chance to meet again with old friends who I shared a great memory within Montreal. This trip was filled with laughter, fun, and shared with great people. I chose this song to correspond with this life event because this was the song that was playing in the background as I was staring out at the blurry neon lights of the city from my friend’s apartment and experienced different emotions and feelings within that short moment. Everything around me was just so beautiful that I was speechless, and this song was joyful and soothing at the same time. I just stared with my eyes wide opened analyzing every single detail of buildings and simply the city as a whole. This song brings back that same feeling and image of those amazing night views of the city and the neon lights as they reflect back into my eyes.
